After a decade away from London, 29-year-old Rona (Saoirse Ronan) returns home to the Orkney Islands. Sober but lonely, she tries to suppress the memory of the events that led her to this journey of recovery. Slowly, the mystical land enters her inner world and – day by day – Rona finds hope and strength within herself amidst the strong storms and the reassuringly cold sea.
